Toddler (13 months - 24 months)
This age group will continue to work on any tasks that were not mastered during the previous level with the exception of walking. Children will be required to walk steady prior to this class. The introduction of new tasks will be based on the individual child and not pressured into attempting tasks that they are not developmentally ready to undertake. Age appropriate games will be introduced. These games include but are not limited to patty cake, peek-a-boo, and pass (using a large soft ball). Identification of body parts such as eyes, nose, mouth, ears, arms, legs and fingers. Large muscle skills will be developed during both indoor and outdoor play. Vocabulary and identification of objects within the child's environment will be used. Children will begin to feed themselves during this age group. A cup (sippy) will be introduced during meals. Appropriate use of fork and spoon will be instructed and modeled. Child will become more responsible of personal hygiene before meals, changing tasks that require hand washing, and during potty training.
Toddler (25 months - 36 months)
This age group will continue to work on any tasks that were not mastered during the previous level. Some children will be ready for basic educational concepts such as colors and shapes. Identification of these objects will be reinforced. Independent toilet training and corresponding personal hygiene will become more frequent during this age group. Children will become more independent during meals and snacks. Age appropriate art projects will be conducted. Children will receive daily exposure to reading by staff during scheduled times. Continued use of identifying objects within the child's environment will be used to build vocabulary.
